You dreamed of a loyal companion—a dog that listens, fits into your home, follows your lead, and maybe even joins you in the field on a hunt.
But what you got is a dog that jumps, pulls, barks nonstop, pees inside, chews things up, bolts through doors, or flounders when it’s time to retrieve.
Maybe they’ve got drive, but no discipline.
They don’t come when called. They’re more chaos than help on a hunt.
You’ve tried your best, but between work, kids, and life pulling you in every direction, there’s just no time or energy to train them properly.
It doesn’t have to be this hard. CapeWest R&T brings calm, clarity, confidence, and connection back into your life with your dog.
Whether you're raising a puppy, correcting frustrating behavior, or looking for a hunting partner who can also relax at home, CapeWest R&T board-and-train programs are built around real life—yours.
Professional Dog Training that Fits Your Life
Our board-and-train programs are built for busy families and recreational hunters who want a well-mannered, dependable dog they can live with—and take into the field with confidence.
From crate training and basic obedience to advanced companion gundog training, we focus on practical, real-life results that truly last well beyond training—not ribbons, trophies, or titles.
Whether you need a calmer puppy, a more responsive adult dog, or a hunting partner who also knows how to relax at home, we do the heavy lifting—so you can enjoy the dog you always hoped for.
British Labs with Steady Temperaments and Proven Bloodlines
CapeWest R&T puppies are bred for calm, even-keeled temperaments in the home and trained for sharp instincts in the field—the best of both worlds in one dependable companion.
Each pairing is intentional, with a focus on preserving the qualities that make British Labradors so sought after—loyalty, drive, and an "off-switch" at home—without sacrificing trainability.
Whether you need a house dog that can hunt or a family-friendly retriever with field-trial pedigree, our breeding program delivers well-bred, highly trainable dogs you’ll be proud to raise.
Exclusively for CapeWest-Trained & Bred Dogs
If your dog has been trained or bred at CapeWest R&T, you can board them in a calm, low-stress environment—not a crowded, noisy kennel—with people they already know, like, and trust.
We only offer boarding to CapeWest alumni, which means every dog here has already been through our program or comes from one of our litters. This creates a safer, predictable environment where each dog is understood and cared for like one of our own.
Have peace of mind knowing you're reducing their stress and giving them a stay that feels comfortable and safe—like home.
Your Partners in Purpose-Driven Training and Breeding
As dedicated trainers and breeders, we help families and hunters enjoy calmer homes and reliable dogs through structured board-and-train programs and selectively bred British Labradors.
We believe a well-trained dog can change the rhythm of your home—and that strong breeding lines matter just as much as daily structure, consistency, and how a dog is raised.
That’s why every dog at CapeWest R&T lives in our home and is trained with patience, purpose, and real-world routines that reflect how you actually live with your dog in your home.
Every dog is different, and we take the time to understand what makes yours tick. Whether you're raising your first puppy, fine-tuning a gundog, or managing overwhelming behavior, we tailor the training to your dog’s temperament and your goals—so the results feel right for your life, not just the training field.
Unlike large training facilities or volume-based breeders, we limit how many dogs we work with so we can focus on quality, not quantity. From crate training to field readiness, every step is handled with care and a deep respect for the dog’s wellbeing.
If you want a calmer home (and dog) and a training experience grounded in real-life results—we’d love to work with you.
"Heath and Caitlin are top notch! Tilly was a crazy doodle. After her 6-week stay she has learned so much... If she’s being crazy, I can tell her 'Place,' and she goes to her bed. She will kennel without me having to pick her up, this is HUGE! I would give them a 10 star if I could!"
Owner of Tilly
"My 7-month-old Golden Retriever (Crash) needed some manners and bird dog training... Heath and Caitlin were the kind of people we knew would give our pup the same love that we would. They took Crash and treated him like their own. The training was top notch, and communication was great. Heath was able to turn our young golden into a hunt-ready bird dog."
Owner of Crash
"We got Hank, a 9-month-old lab, with the intention of him being a service dog... Heath at CapeWest R&T did an amazing job training Hank. I have had no issue with taking him out in public in his service vest, and he behaves very well. 100% recommend sending your dog here!"
Owner of Hank
You won't find a crowded kennel here. Our home-based training and breeding program is built around your dog's safety and long-term success. Your dog will receive the personal attention they deserve.
Your dog stays in our home ("CapeWest") throughout the duration of training, which helps them adjust to everyday life—not just commands.
Help your dog make better choices—not just obey out of pressure. We blend fieldwork with service dog techniques for lasting behavior changes.
Our British Labradors are carefully selected for calm personalities and strong working instincts. They're just as content in your living room as in the field.
It might look fun, but group play is where most injuries happen at other facilities. We avoid it completely to keep your dog safe and focused.
